DAY 26
Dubois to Riverton 82 miles of easy rolling hills and few services. There is a store at 31 miles in the town(?) of Crowheart and another at Kinnear, at 62 miles. The first17 miles are mostly down hill and then turns to rolling small hills. The town of Burris is on the map but they must have had their cloaking device turned on, nothing there that I could see. Called my wife and she asked about flats. Against my better judgement I mentioned that haven't had one since Idaho 5 miles later BOB is nailed. While reattaching wheel bike and BOB fall breaking the Lucky Dog flag. With the flat fixed and flag stowed away I continue on to Crowheart and lunch. At 42 miles is a nice rest area with covered picnic tables, nice and shady as the heat is now on once again since leaving the mountains. A mile down the road East 26 and South 287 split I make the choice to abandon the Colorado route and head for the flat lands of Nebraska. Two miles more and a bolt at the pivot point on BOB strips and half detaches BOB this does not look good. By some good fortune the bolt is still there. Being a clever dog the inner tube from the earlier flat is put to good use, see quick fix photo below. The rest of the way into Riverton is without incident or so I thought!!!!
Riverton has all services and a bike shop, being the weekend this does me no good. The ride today was very pleasant and fast, with the exceptions of the above incidents.

DAY 27
Decided to take a full rest day and do laundry and lounge around. Returning from doing laundry figured to clean up the bike a bit and discovered a broken spoke, this being Sunday will have to wait till tomorrow to take it to the bike shop, no bid deal as I was taking the today off anyway, dog tired.

DAY 28
Bike shop opens at 9, bike fixed at 11:30. Decision time, it is 120 miles to Casper, and the only services of any kind after Shoshoni are at Hells Half Acre,a small tourist spot of some kind, 84 miles away. The tempeture is already pushing 90 and I am told the road is rolling hills, would take me till dark at least to get there so will lounge around one more day and move on in the morning. Am staying at The Paintbrush Motel on the East side of town, owned by Jack and Joann Clark two of nices people I've met, so if you're ever in Riverton it is a nice place to stay. Reasonable price and very clean and just plain good folks.

DAY 29
Riverton to Hells Half Acre is somewhere around 78 miles. After leaving from Shoshoni (all services) came upon a road construction site just outside of Moneta at 42 miles ,they insisted on shuttling bikes through the work zone of 12 miles,so the distantes are a rough guess after the shuttle. The road from Riverton to Hiland is pretty much a steady very easy upgrade with a couple easy hills.Shuttled past Moneta so don't know if it has a store. Hiland, 62 miles from Riverton, has a store and that is all. 5 miles from Hiland is a rest stop, and the road starts to be more down than up but still has rolling hills. Hells Half Acre has all services and the heat is on so this is it for today.Todays ride was through a mostly desolate scrub brush and brown grass landscape, nothing as far as the eye could see for the most part, see road from Shoshoni picture below,it pretty much shows all there was to see.
Aug 27
DAY 30
Hells Half Acre to Glenrock 69 miles. The road is mostly down and flat with several small hills over the course of the day. There is a small motel 5 miles out at Powder River,a small store and that is it till mile 43 at Casper. See the photo below for details on Natrona. As you leave Casper on bussiness 20/26 a sign says 18 miles to Glenrock(all services), this is false it is 24 miles.Speaking of falsehoods the weather report this morning was for winds 15 to 20 mph from the west north west, heading east, should be a nice ride. Will as I ride with the sun in my eyes and the wind in my face I wonder if I am going the wrong way.The only thing right is the wind speed, making for a harder ride than it would have been without a headwind. 10 miles from Casper the wind starts to shift and after having lunch it is a very quick and easy ride to Glenrock.Yesterday the vast nothingness was exciting to ride through, today it is just boring, oh well mays as well get used to it for Nebraska, and Kansas.
Aug 28
DAY 31
Glenrock to Glendo 56 miles of Hills. Leaving Glenrock on route S 20/E 26 joins I-25 after 5 miles, and then the fun begins.50 miles of up and down 2 to 3 % grades.Douglas is at mile 25 with most services at the eastern end of town and 2 to 3 mile steady easy to moderate climb out of town. Orin is at around mile 44 has a store .7 miles off route and a rest area with water a bit closer.Asked about rt.391 and was told it was about the same as I-25 just more biting insects,I choose the Devil I know.12 more mile to Glendo (has services) and the hills and heat have got me.The scenery has not changed a lot from the last couple days, just a few ranch houses scattered along the way and lots of power lines.
Aug 29
DAY 32
Glendo to Torrington 70 miles .Leaving from Glendo on I25 S/26 E is a repeat of yesterday for 20 miles, you go up you go down. At 20 miles take exit 92 to 26 east. Heading dead east with what should have been the sun in my face I am instead greeted with the WIND in my face. The town of Dwyer is at mile 24, see photo below. A couple fairly easy rolling hills and 11 miles brings you to the town of Guernsey at mile 35( has services). Fort Laramie is 13 miles from Guernsey and the rolling hills continue for 10 of those, 7 ups in the 10 miles, and then down and to the flat.Fort Laramie has services and is at mile 49. There is a RV park at mile 54 and the town of Lindle at mile 60,stores and cafe, no sign of place to stay but there is a camping area off route (?) 2 1/2 miles east of town. Torrington at mile 70 has all services. Todays ride was not as bad as it seemed and would have been fairly easy without the head wind. Threaten rain all day but was just cloudy and cool and of course windy.Tomorrow promises to be the same only with the RAIN!!!! So join me in
